Despite the work's title, Jean Delville has included several people and events from the Gospel stories. But I am not here to give an insightful analysis of stories and symbolism. Instead, I present you with...
..this guy. Everyone around him is looking on in joy or awe or constipation (see next image). But I cannot tell whether this guy is bowing in worship or if he is being sick into his shirt. Or maybe it's part of Jesus' robe that he grabbed, and Jesus was like, "Uh...yeah, I guess you can keep that."
Here we have the angry Jewish leaders. I assume. Either that or some nomadic beard enthusiasts with eccentric taste in clothing just came piling out of the Near Eastern Caravan version of a clown car directly onto the scene. Maybe they're upset that all these people are clogging up the Temple Bypass.
And finally, my personal favorite:
This man is clearly the "I'm not dead" guy from "Life of Brian," saying, "I think I'll go for a walk. I feel happy!"
